Procedure Details

Panniculectomy removes excess lower abdomen fat and skin. This is often a procedure insurance will deem as medically necessary for certain circumstances. There is no diastasis repair (no moving the abdomen muscles), thus the central bulging area of the abdomen would still be present after the surgery.

This 35 year old female from the Harrisburg area gained weight during pregnancy and was trying to loose the abdomen skin and fat. She developed recurrent intertrigo (rashes), recurrent fungal infections, pain, excoriation and skin breakdown in the inguinal regions. She had a laparoscopic band procedure to help loose weight. She reported having pain in the pannus itself.
