This Harrisburg area patient is a 34 year old female (A cup bra size before) who developed left breast cancer at 26 years of age. She underwent chemotherapy but not radiation. She was treated with bilateral nipple sparing mastectomies with immediate breast reconstruction via tissue expander placement under the pectoralis muscle. After 4 months of tissue expansion, her tissue expanders were exchanged for Mentor 375 cc High Profile Smooth Silicone Gel Implants (B cup bra size after) under the pectoralis muscle. She then underwent an exchange of 375cc implants for Mentor 595 Xtra High Profile implants, lower pole capsulotomies, and bilateral breast upper pole fat grafting left 10cc and right 30cc. liposuction to the abdomen and back for 2.1 L of lipoaspirate. Breast Reconstruction / Lipo

Breast reconstruction. The goal is to restore one or both breast to near normal shape, appearance, symmetry and size following mastectomy, lumpectomy or for congenital deformities. Breast reconstruction usually involves multiple procedures performed in stages. There are 2 broad categories of reconstruction options, implants or flap reconstruction (using your own body tissue). While these seem like 2 separate categories, they can be combined in many cases to help patients achieve their reconstructive goals. When the breast reconstruction process starts at the time of mastectomy it is referred to as immediate breast reconstruction. When breast reconstruction starts any time after the mastectomy it is referred to as delayed breast reconstruction.  The type of mastectomy, the type of treatment for cancer (chemotherapy and radiation) can have a large effect on the outcome of the breast reconstruction. Prophylactic mastectomies refer to patients who choose to undergo mastectomies to reduce their risk for the development of breast cancer where there is a high rate of breast cancer in their family.
