Breast Augmentation Revision

This is a 67-year-old Harrisburg area female who presents for breast augmentation revision. She underwent breast augmentation years ago with silicone breast implants and now presents with hard painful breasts which are ruptured. She has capsular contracture causing breast pain. She underwent bilateral capsulectomies (removal of capsules) and exchange of her implants to Mentor MemoryGel Silicone Smooth Round High Profile 400cc breast implants. Capsular contracture is when the scar tissue around the breast implant tightens for no apparent reason. Sometimes this can be due to ruptured silicone implants. However, it can happen for unknown reasons as well. The contracture causes breast pain and deformity. The treatment is typically removal of the breast capsules and replacement of the implants.
