Latissimus Dorsi Breast Recon
This Harrisburg area patient is a 61 year old who developed right breast cancer and underwent bilateral mastectomies. She received chemo and radiation therapy on the right side. She underwent breast reconstruction with tissue expanders with exchange for implants. She has had 9 breast reconstruction surgeries (some infections). She was not happy with her breast reconstruction. She says her breasts are small (don't project)- and are not normal shaped, too lateral, and low; they block her arm motion. She has no cleavage and underdeveloped upper poles. She did not look like she had breast reconstruction at our first meeting.
She underwent a right latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap with bilateral placement of tissue expanders with subsequent exchange to implants. She currently has Mentor Xtra smooth silicone implants right 790cc and left 755cc.
