Fat types (Part 2)
From the plastic surgeon’s perspective, there are 2 types of fat. The type that we can remove with a liposuction cannula and the fat that we can’t reach with the cannula. Or I should say that type of fat is in an unsafe location to try to remove with liposuction. Broadly speaking these are: structural fat and visceral fat.
Structural fat is good. You want your cheeks to be full and youthful. Your want butt fat to sit on. If you were to lose this fat, you would dislike your appearance. People might not recognize you without this structural fat. You want to keep this type of fat. This is structural fat. It is good.
Visceral fat is bad. This is your ‘belly fat’, your ‘love handles’, your ‘saddle bags’. It is all the fat that you have now, that you did not have when you were 14 years old. Think about how your body has changed over the years.
Visceral fat is much worse problem than just looking bad. It is the cause of most of America’s medical problems. Visceral fat is very inflammatory to the body. It causes or contributes to many medical problems (like high blood pressure, diabetes, anxiety, depression and many other problems). By reducing the amount of visceral fat, your medical problems can improve or possibly resolve.
So how do I reduce visceral fat?
